I was born in a Swedish family who loved to travel. As a fourteen year old boy I started my trips abroad on my own.
Travelling was in the blood!

When studying at university, me and my wife worked extra on week-ends to be able to afford to travel abroad in the summer. Mostly to Germany that was near, but the problem was that the travel funds were limited. Hotel was too expensive. Pubs were cheap but not so nice. That was when we came to realize that it was possible to stay at castles. It was not generally known that this was possible. Price for a room in a castle was much cheaper than a hotel room at that time. It was like this our interest in staying in Castles started.

Today it is still relatively cheap in Germany, Portugal, Spain and Baltic countries, but in most other countries castles are often more expensive then common hotels.

My interest in castles made me collect my data, about castles where you can stay and how you get into contact with them.
Whenever I travel abroad, I check the map to see if there is any castle near my destination, and hopefully one that I previously not have visited. It has become a passion, to feel the atmosphere of an old castle with its ghosts, its beautiful rooms and lounges from e.g.1600 century or 1700.

I have started this web club to give other people possibility to find their own small paradise. Some information may be wrong, but together I hope we will make this web side always up to date.
